NEW! Pierced, Hammered, Stamped: Negative Space Adjustable Rings - 5 hours

In this class you will be making TWO adjustable rings. 

First project: You will be starting with a flat piece of sheet metal and creating a pattern that will wrap around the finger. This ring will NOT be soldered together and will have an opening, either on the top of the finger which will intentionally add to the design, or underneath the finger so that the top of the finger will be fully covered. Because of this opening the ring will be slightly adjustable. You can pierce the design, (cutting out shapes from the material so that you can see your finger through the ring), or you can hammer and stamp the ring to achieve various textures. Go as simple or complex as you want! Each student will measure their finger and receive a template that corresponds to the desired size and design approach. 

Second project: First you will measure and form your own simple ring band, which can include stamping and hammering for texture. Once you have a good fit you will use the torch to solder two different shapes on to the top of the ring, one on each end of the ring band. When designing your shapes you will consider how the they will interact with each other and how you want to use the negative space in between them. This ring will also be slightly adjustable. 

Included Materials: Sterling silver for the second project (included band and up to one square inch for top shapes) and brass or bronze for the first project. If you would like to upgrade to silver for the first project it will be an additional cost that can be paid during class.
